The TMTA Student Affiliate Original Composition Contest encourages students to compose their own compositions. With their teacher’s guidance, students can compose solo or ensemble compositions for any instrument that may be submitted to the state contest for adjudication by highly qualified judges. Winners in each category receive certificates and cash awards and are invited to perform their works at TMTA’s annual conference.

The TMTA SA Performance Contest is the premier event for students who wish to compete at the highest level. Students must prepare a program to be performed by memory in front of multiple judges. After advancing from local and regional rounds, students will perform in the State contest at the TMTA Conference in June, with top prizes obtaining monetary awards.

Testing associated with the World of Music event, which presents an opportunity to learn more about composers, their works, and the history of their times, and how that can inform performance in differing styles.

Provides an annual monetary award to individuals or institutions involved with music therapy. The award will be referred to either as a “M.T. Scholarship,” for students pursuing a degree in music thearpy, or as a “Grant-in-Aid” award, for professional music therapists or institutions who have established programs of therapy through music.

Submission Form

To award a set amount of money, usually $100 to each graduating senior who has continued his/her music studies through the past 6 academic years up to and including the senior year (grades 7-12). The award amount may be increased as CCMTA’s budget allows. (Please see Yearbook for award amount.)

To provide a set amount of money, usually a $500.00 scholarship, to a graduating senior for further study in a music field. This scholarship amount may be increased as CCMTA’s budget allows. (The scholarship amount each year will be published in the CCMTA Newsletter in late Spring.)
